A Personal Letter From Grandmaster
Caprio

First
I would like to thank you for taking the time to read this very import message. Every individuals needs are unique to them.
For the last forty-five years, I have been an active member, studying,
teaching, and doing what I can in my own way to promote the martial arts.
As a mature person reading this, you know that the most difficult things
to acquire in life are:
Discipline
Integrity
Respect
Loyalty
If you’re a
parent, how does one instill these qualities in your young?
As an adult, if you’re missing one, how do you acquire this knowledge
for yourself? Of course there is
more than one way. The best way I
have found, to instill these needed assets in a persons life, is the martial
arts. Few other avenues can afford, that there will be a constant
learning process throughout a person’s lifetime.
The
body, the mind, the will [spirit], grows all together at the same time.
Unlike most
other types of sport athletics, [which has a point that one can aspire too!],
one can study the martial arts on and off, or keep on for any length of time, so
he or she can keep on growing as long as they train in the martial arts.
For you see, the only person you’re in competition with is yourself,
and that’s a consistency that will hold true throughout your training, for
however long you train, even your whole life.
So
you must be asking, why have I written to you?
I want to try and help you to be able to choose the right martial arts
school for yourself or your loved one. I
have owned martial arts schools and you must pick the right school the first
time. Picking the right school is not about money or convenience and a lot of
times you can still make a mistake.
Sometimes
a loved one such as a brother or close friend can belong to a particular school,
so of course they want you or your loved one to join their school. This sounds like a great idea.
You say why not? There are
so many reasons why this is not a good approach, that I could not go into them
all right now, because I would run out of space on this letter.
Even as a martial arts student already studying at a school, if not
asking for yourself, then maybe for someone that you know that lives too far
away. How do I find a school close
to home for me or for my children? We
have asked these questions and didn’t have any way to respond.
Remember that in these times there are many martial arts school’s, one
on every corner just about.
Just because
a school is right for one particular person, does not mean that it is the right
school for you, in spite of what your friends’ and\or most school owners will
try to sell you!
Just how does that person know if they are in the right school for them?
How many times have you personally seen people quit a school never to
give any good explanation for leaving? Your
inner being tells you that there is more to the story but the person doesn’t
want to explain or clams up! WHY????????????
“Let the buyer beware!”
I
know you have heard this one before. You
need something that will give you the edge.
Who,
What, Where, When, How?
Questions
that you need to ask in order to make the right informed decision.
Think! In life there is no
such thing as a short cut or free lunch. Anyone
who offers you a short cut is either lying to you to ensure you don’t become
as good as they are or just does not understand the truth of what they are
trying to teach you. In life,
generally speaking, just about anyone can teach you something, but how could
someone younger than yourself really teach you all about life?
It takes the right teacher and the right school.
There are so many martial arts schools today, picking the right school
can be compared to trying to decipher between a real diamond and a cubic
zirconium. To the naked eye there
is virtually no difference. Not
until they are examined under a microscope can their true value be determined.
You
have to do the same thing when you are trying to pick a school.
Look at every school in your area very carefully.
Know what questions to ask. That’s
how you can put them under the microscope and examine them closely.
Only after you have done this can you know which is the right one for
you.
Let’s
cut to the chase. I like the old traditional schools where the teacher is more
than a teacher of martial arts. He
acts as a figure to help guide students through both the martial arts and
everyday life as well. He is not
there to replace the students’ family but to act as an additional resource or
sounding board. You should choose a school based on two reasons.
The first reason is because it has what you need.
The second is because it has what you want, not the other way around.
So the
question is, “How do you get what you need and how do you get what you want
when it comes to picking a martial arts school or style for yourself?”
Well,
it works the same way as when you go to pick a new doctor.
When you pick a new doctor, there are specific questions that you always
ask about that doctor. In this
case, the information you seek about martial arts in a general sense can be
found for free at my website:

A great
training aid, with all the specifics that you would need, can be found when you
buy my VHS, DVD, Audio CD, or Cassette:

Specifically
everything you need from soup to nuts will be covered.
Things you need to know such as:
How Not To Be Cheated On
A Contract Or Out Of Your Money
What You Need From Your
Instructors And Why
Where Is Your Martial Art
Training Taking You? Is It In The
Right Direction?
When Your Training Is Too
Physical
Why Are The School And
The People More Important Than The Rank Or Belt Color?
Can
you tell if the highest instructor is for real?
What makes a particular style or school “The Best”?
So many things you need to know about how to pick the right school, the
first time, especially if it is not just for you but for your youngsters too.
I said before that you must pick the right school the very first time.
One really good reason for this is that you or your young ones won’t be
burned off by “the been there, done that syndrome” that you have surely seen
yourself in athletic sports. As the
term implies, traditional “Martial Arts” are not a sport but an Art.
When someone aspires to master a sport such as bowling, for example,
there is a limit, specifically 300, that one can score.
With the martial arts, there are no limits except those placed on
oneself.
“DEFUNKIN’
THE FUNK” covers in more detail all of the subjects discussed above, and much,
much, more. Make your martial arts mean more to you and your loved ones
by purchasing and studying
DEFUNKIN’
THE FUNK – HOW TO PICK A MARTIAL ARTS SCHOOL BEST SUITED TO MEET YOUR NEEDS
If
you or someone you know, might even be considering training in the martial arts,
wouldn’t this VHS, DVD, Audio CD, or Cassette be the perfect gift for them?
Once you see it, you will realize that you cannot afford NOT to have it
in your collection.
Along
with all of the above information, I have in a fun way, tried in the time
allotted, to show many variations of various techniques such as kicking,
punching, locking, throwing, breaking, some weapons, as well as the Way of Zen. Covered also, is the meaning of my personal art,
“Capkido”, and what it is and what it means because with all due respect
paid to the masters of the past and their arts, there would be no Capkido.
Sincerely,
Grandmaster
